Essential Notices for all Projects/Bookings - INTERPRETERS

Please read ALL carefully in relation to the type of project/booking you have been allocated for. You are strongly advised to read each time you are allocated to a new project/booking because these are subject to change at any time without prior notice due to operational requirements.
TELEPHONE CONFERENCE
When booked for a telephone conference, the interpreter must be logged in to the dial-in details or be in a position to begin the conference at the exact scheduled start time. If the interpreter hasn’t been contacted at the scheduled time, they need to notify NTIS UK / UKLST immediately (this should be done within 5 minutes at the scheduled start time by calling the office on 02039507188). Failure to do this will result in 15 minutes of deduction from the final payment.
It is a requirement for interpreters to perform the telephone interpretation in a private and quiet and indoors (within a vehicle is not acceptable), with no noises in the background. All our bookings are confidential so they must be treated as such.
If, for unforeseen circumstances, interpreters are unable to perform the conference in a private place, he/she needs to notify NTIS UK / UKLST immediately and DO NOT perform the conference in public in any case. The notice can result in financial penalization, this will be the decision of the Duty Manager at the time.
If the interpreter is running late, they need to notify NTIS UK / UKLST Immediately.
When the interpreter is provided with dial-in details to join a conference, he/she needs to dial in at least 5 minutes before the starting time to make sure the details are working correctly and avoid any delay. On come occasions, proof of this may be required to settle outstanding payments.
If the interpreter is having issues dialing in, he/she needs to notify NTIS UK / UKLST immediately or penalisation for late attendance will apply.
VIDEO CONFERENCE
When booked for video conferences, the interpreter must check if the link provided is working prior to the starting time, at least 10 minutes before. If the interpreter is having issues by joining with the link, they need to notify NTIS UK / UKLST immediately (prior to scheduled start time) or they will be penalized for late attendance.
The interpreter needs to check if they have the correct video platform installed on their devices prior to the conference allowing enough time to be logged into the conference as stated above and make sure their microphone and camera are working properly and all relevant permissions as such are granted on their equipment/devices.
When an interpreter joins the conference, and if they are not able to see the other parties, they need to notify NTIS UK / UKLST immediately.
If the interpreter is having issues with the link, he/she needs to notify NTIS UK / UKLST immediately otherwise penalization for late attendance will apply.

FACE TO FACE
When interpreters are booked for face-to-face assignments, they must be at the venue at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled starting time. The journey delays must be taken into consideration in advance.
The interpreter must make sure they have the timesheet printed with them because any other form of attendance acknowledgment will not be accepted and can result in payment refusal.
For prison assignment and court, interpreters are required to arrive at the venue at least 15 minutes before the starting time, to go through the security and venue requirements. It is mandatory to take a Photo ID Document with them, for officials to correctly identify yourself. Failure to do so could result in denied entry and refusal of payment.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERPRETERS FOR ALL BOOKINGS.
ALL THE CONFIRMATION E-MAILS AND VIDEO CONFERENCE LINKS SENT FROM NTIS UK / UKLST NEED TO BE ACKNOWLEDGED BY INTERPRETERS.
WE DO NOT ALLOW DIRECT COMMUNICATION BETWEEN INTERPRETERS AND CLIENTS (UNLESS WRITTEN AUTHORISATION IS GIVEN), THEREFORE IN CASE OF ANY ISSUES, NTIS UK / UKLST MUST BE CONTACTED IMMEDIATELY.
